Synod Replay x Parvadean Ginette
Balsuma has imported many Welsh Ponies for
both customers and their own breeding and showing program. But three of the most important
were: 1st the imported Section D mare; *Lidgett Henrietta (Llanarth Black Henry x Sydenham
Jasmin shown below) bred by Keven and Madeleine Hopkins' Lidgett Stud. Henrietta was a wonderful mare which
the Schockett's were honored to own. She won several Supreme Champions including the prestigious Royal Winter Fair and The
Old Mill Supreme (now Champion of Champions). She was undersaddle and in harness trained by Larry Poulin. Unfortunately,
she only had one offspring for Balsuma; Balsuma Highflyer (who was sold on to Carole Holcombe's Northfork Stud in Oregon).
Sadly, in 1996 Henrietta was lost as a result of many years of systemic illnesses. This was triggered as a reaction from
a leutolise injection during breeding season, which caused many years of infertility. She also developed severe fibrosis,
and eventuallly founder.
Henrietta carried on first through her son, Balsuma Highflyer (*Lidgett
Henrietta x *Llanarth Trustful) at Carol Holcombe's Northfork Stud in Oregon. Her breeding program featured him
at stud until he was gelded some years ago. Secondly, in her grandoffspring such as Northfork's Lady Jane (Balsuma Highflyer
x *Llanarth Nansi). Jane has produced foals (great grandoffspring) for Randy Bullard and Bob Fossi's Ranlan Stud
in Missouri. Henrietta will always remain as the favorite and top Section D for the Schockett's. She was a lovely and most intelligent
mare. She was absolutely special, and irreplaceable. She will remain in their heart and memory.
The 2nd most important was *Glynwyn Delicia
(Persie Ramrod x Glynwyn Diamante shown below). This Section C Welsh Pony of Cob Type mare was a hot, fiery,
show and broodmare for the Shockett's. She was smart as a whip, and also a great joy to own. Delicia also excelled in performance
trained for both pleasure and dressage. She was bred by Gwen and Stephen Heppenstall's Glynwyn Stud. Delicia won many
Supreme Championships. Unfortunately, she lost her battle with founder in 2002. Delicia struggled from the damages of severe
founder. This occured as a reaction to a prostaglandin shot in her first breeding season. Delicia was unable to
be shown again after her founder but remained a brood mare for the farm. She produced; Balsuma Delwyn (a
black gelding who is owned by the Villani Family of Elizabeth, CO.),Balsuma Duchess (a black mare owned by Glynis Crabb
of Hollister,CA.), Balsuma Delia (a black mare owned by Claire Clyde, Balsuma The Dixie Chick (a
black filly lost as a foal), and her last foal was Balsuma Destiny ( a chesnut filly retained by Balsuma
Farm). Delicia, just like Henrietta will remain a favorite and irreplaceable mare for Balsuma. She had such a great spirit
and personality about her. She was a wonderful mother to her foals. They will always miss her !
3rd and last, but certainly not least the wonderful
imported Section C Welsh Pony of Cob Type Stallion-*Parvadean The Governor (Synod Replay x Parvadean
Ginette) exported back to his homeland, he will always remain the pride and joy of Balsuma's Welsh. He achieved over 36
Overall Supreme or Reserve Supreme Championships, several WPCSA National Champions, or Reserves. Many performance
Champions in Hunter, Pleasure Undersaddle, and Driving. 2 USDF All Breed Champions in Dressage. A Silver Medal in
The North American Large Pony Pleasure Driving. Top awards in advanced CDE's such as 6th Overall at Gladstone
International CDE, and 4th Overall at Fair Hill International CDE.
Having nothing left to prove The Schockett's made a very difficult
and reluctant decision to honor such a wonderful pony. In December 2007 Kris Gee of The Oldeworlde Stud in the U.K. made an
offer to buy and return Gov to his homeland. He returned for a well deserved pampered life with selective breeding
to quality Section C Welsh mares. Despite how difficult this was it was a decision based on love for Gov, and the breed. The Schockett's felt
he still has so much to offer and that he will be fully appreciated for all his greatness back in his homeland.
To carry on for Gov will be his young son BALSUMA LLEWELYN (*Knockbridge
Lyn) this young stallion also the last for Lyn who passed on in January 2008. Expecting his 1st 2 foals in 2009.
See his information under Junior Stallion page.
Also our newest acquisition OLDEWORLDE BRILLIANCE (Persie Sir
Russel x Parvadean Bo Peep) arriving in early 2009 by the kindness of Kris Gee (Oldeworlde Stud). Balsuma Farm
is very excited for the future to offer his linebreeding as well as new quality imported bloodlines to their
mare lines. For information look under his page.
